Students in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools (CMS) can now use their student ID to check out books and do online research using the public library resources. For the approximately 145,000 CMS students a new agreement lets the student ID serve as a public library card.
The ONE Access program lets students check out print and audio books, use library databases and borrow a range of digital materials from all 20 locations of the Charlotte Mecklenburg Library. According to Superintendent Ann Clark, the goal is to work with the library to meet the student's needs where ever they are. Using the student ID allows access from the classroom, media center, at the public library and at home.
Bridgeway Solutions partnered with CMS in the summer of 2013 to implement a student ID card program at 160 schools. The project included loading DATACARD’s WebID software at each location and hardware installation for 81 DATACARD CD800 card printers, 79 DATACARD SP25 Plus card printers, 40 zoom cameras and 120 webcams.
