Bridgeway Solutions and Salamander recently donated an accountability system to the Burke County fire academies at Patton and Draughn high schools. The Burke County Public Schools fire academies are the first in the state to use the program to teach and utilize firefighter accountability.
Western Piedmont Community College Emergency Services Director Mike Willis helped the fire academies establish the partnership with Bridgeway Solutions and Salamander. Combining real situations and training, the Junior Firefighter Program prepares young men and women, ages 15 to 17 for a career as a firefighter. The fire academies will have "tagging" capabilities using the donated ID badge printer (plastic card printer), Salamander card printing software, cards and accessories. This spring Bridgeway will offer advanced training by Willis and Wayne Peck, RTC and Senior Technician. Announcements and early registration for the 4-day sessions will be published in early January 2016. Class sizes will be limited to 12 participants.
